The Manhattan Bridge, an iconic suspension bridge connecting Lower Manhattan to Brooklyn, she stands tall and proud in this blue and yellow photograph, symbolising both harshness and hope. As a favourite subject among photographers, she has been famously captured from various angles, including the warehouses framing her from Dumbo's Washington Street, which has become a classic composition.

For me, this photograph represents more than just a beautiful scene. It reflects the journey and struggles that many have faced in the city, you see her in the distance and she lures you in, when you get there you see more of the New York Skyline, and she calls to you from across the water. The harshness of the city's challenging environment is represented in the cold blue tones of the photograph. Yet, the bright yellow adds a glimmer of hope, signifying the possibility that lay across the bridge.

The bridge has since played a significant role in the city's development, serving as a vital transportation link for daily commuters and contributing to the growth of the surrounding neighbourhoods, each person making the journey in hope of something more

Photographing New York, a city of immense contrast, with its relentless pace, towering skyscrapers, and melting pot of cultures. As a visitor, I find myself drawn to its energy and complexity, and on my recent trip, I wanted to capture the essence of the city through my photographs. The blue and yellow tones in my series represent the struggle and the hope that are so integral to the New York experience. The city is notorious for its brutal competitiveness, but it is also a place where dreams can come true with hard work and determination.

Through my photo editing, I wanted to depict the multifaceted nature of New York, showcasing both its gritty, urban side alongside its shining moments of triumph. Each photo in the series tells a story about the city, using colour to reflect the various shades of the New York experience.
